Leedy’s architectural legacy begins in the 1950’s and continues today through Double T.
As an original member of the Sarasota School of Architecture, Gene Leedy brought the excitement and innovation of the postwar modern movement to Winter Haven FL where today Double T fosters a creative community in the same spirit.

Leedy moves to Winter Haven, Florida where he completes the sparrow Residence, his first commission

Leedy designs two home models for Craney Spec Home builders. The Mark I and Mark II

Situated in an Old Orange Grove on Drexel Avenue, post and beam homes challenged the norm in post war building

Gene Leedy, becoming Winter Haven’s preeminent architect designs City Hall

The Lake Region Yacht and Country club design together with Paul Rudolph.
Leedy Completes his own office which he touted as the first ever fully precast, prestressed concrete building.

In 2016 Gene and the University of Florida prepared his lifes work to be housed in the Smather’s Archives at UF

In late 2018 Hurricane Irma dealt a serious blow to the Leedy Home. As plans to repair were under way Gene Leedy passed away. The same year Drexel Avenue was recognized as the Craney Spec Houses Historic District.
2019
Picking up the torch, Max Strang purchased the Leedy home and began on a mission to repair the house and complete a pool design he worked on with Gene before his passing.
2020
The Gene Leedy home was lovingly restored by Strang Design for which it was awarded an AIA award.
